David Eilander was born into a family of filmmakers. He and his parents travelled the world attending film festivals. When he was young, he didn't want to follow in his parents' footsteps and told them he wanted to be a lawyer. He didn't realise that it was in his blood. He did a few acting jobs as a kid until he was 16, when he decided he wanted to be behind the camera. He applied to film school as soon as he finished high school at 18. He did a lot of different projects at film school, from art-house to comedy and hip-hop artist videos. He loved doing commissioned work right away: using his creativity to bring ideas to life. So during and after film school, he started doing commercials and won the first award in 2016.

David also kept doing fiction work and several shorts, a mid-length and recently a very popular crime series in the Netherlands. Currently he is writing a feature film, while still having loads of fun directing commercials in and outside the borders of his country!

Taking his curiosity for all kinds of people and the worlds they operate in, David brings these elements of reality into his own quirky filmic universes. He often mixes this with new creative techniques, which gives his work a youthful, light-hearted style that's full of pop culture and humour. His commercial films are full of energy and an overall joie de vivre.
