MALTE
GOY
DIRECTOR &
Photographer
based in Hamburg, Germany
Malte is a visually driven storyteller with a background in cinematography and over a decade of experience as a Director of Photography. His imagery is precise, emotionally resonant and rooted in a calm, observational gaze – with a natural preference for clear compositions, atmospheric light and characters who speak more with silence than words.
His creative roots trace back to the street culture of his youth – skateboarding, graffiti, back alleys, and empty pools. That early exposure to raw texture and real emotion continues to inform his visual language: minimalistic, intuitive, and deeply human. There’s a certain Scandinavian stillness in his storytelling. A sense of space. A belief that less – when composed with care – is often more.
Malte’s career has taken him from the icy backcountry of Iceland to the chaotic calm of Asian megacities. He has filmed in Los Angeles, worked on the Olympic Games and led shoots in Jordan, South Africa and all over Europe. He's worked on campaigns for Borussia Dortmund, Eintracht Frankfurt and the German Football Association (DFB), often with professional
athletes and celebrity talent on set – including Mats Hummels, Marco Reus, Lena Gercke, Łukasz Piszczek, Axel Witsel and Roman Weidenfeller. He handles such sets with quiet precision and a dry, subtly disarming humor – some might even say British, though that may just be the well-cut understatement talking.
Malte places great importance on handpicked locations, thoughtful casting, and a rhythm that feels organic yet exact. His postproduction approach is restrained and refined, designed to support the emotional tone of each scene rather than overwhelm it. His work has been awarded by the Art Directors Club (ADC Germany) and received early recognition with a Young Talent Award.
